In my presumption ASME and PED/NEN specify a PSV on a pressure vessel.

Currently am in a discussion with a supplier who doesn't want to place a relief valve on the (pressure) vessel, because there is no relief scenario.

I tried to find it in the european standards, but unfotunately no success.

Does anyone have experience with the NEN/ISO/PED on this subject. Can you help me with some references, if there is any?

Member7,

In ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1 through UG-140 it's allowed under specific conditions no PSV being installed on a pressure vessel. About other codes i'm not aware...

Thanks Fallah.

CMA010,

NEN EN-764-7 (6.1.3) specifies a safety valve/system when it is expected that the pressure could be above the design pressure. In other words, when there is no scenario, it isn't mandatory to install a relief valve.
