Yes, I'm exposed to fluid flow characteristics due to the nature of my work. But I'm still

not able to imagine the significance of Froude number. I remember a criteria wherein the Froude number

must be less than 0.5 (subcritical) in order to make the flow self venting. What makes it self venting when the flow is subcritical? What phenomenon occurs when Fr = 1 (critical flow). And why is supercritical flow not advisable in pipe flow?
