Hello All,

I am creating a spreadsheet to provide a preliminary design estimate for heat exchangers and am running into an issue when it comes to the Nusselt number.

Are there tables or is there a specific equation to be used to estimate/calculate viscosity at average wall temp? Thanks.

There are tables and graphs available which indicate viscosity as a function of temperature. These are composition dependent. Do you have steam? water? air? common hydrocarbons? One source is the Physical Properties section of the GPSA Engineering Data Book. Also, most steady state process simulators will calculate viscosity values from which you can generate a table or regress a curve fit equation.
