I was reading a NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) document on hydrogen storage systems and this particular figure confused me.

What is the "leak test pressure"? This is shown on the diagram as equal to the "Maximum Expected Operating Pressure". The hydrotest pressure I am used to seeing is 1.3 or 1.5 times the MAWP.

What / When is the lower leak test pressure used for? Is this for testing for leaks in the Pressure Relief Valve itself?

Hi,

lower leak test pressure is used in pneumatic test pressure.

Thanks Fallah! But even for pneumatic testing shouldn't the test pressure be *more* than the MAWP? i.e. I've seen 110% or 115% of the MAWP depending on the code.

In this sketch the "leak test pressure" is shown as 90% of the MAWP which sounded very odd to me.
