Dear All

Would you please let me know how i can calculate H2S content in sour water which will be separated from Hydrocarbon in Atmospheric distillation column  overhead accumulated drum?

Thanks in advance.

Please refer to IS 3025 (Indian Standard 3025). It is a standard chemical iodometric method. You can get the standard . at the address given below. The method is applicable to  samples containing 1 to 30 mg sulfide. Vary the quantity of sample or dilute with distilled water if sulfides are more.

Dear Mr. Rap
I want to know how can I estimate H2S contain in simulating software or calculation not by sampling..

Dear Reza,

As i know HCAMS able to do simulations but not for H2S. It's able to simulate sulphur distribution in product with your crude assay data base and cut range. I dont know if any software able to do the same for H2S.

Sulphur in crude able to form H2S in crude preheat (around 230oC).

Thx

I am not aware of any software predicting H2S in sour water.

Dears
If process simulator (for example , HYSYS, Pro II) , how can estimate H2S content in water.
I am sure , lincesor extract this data from process simulator..
I found some graph which shows H2S solubility in water in different temperature, but I can not rely on it.

 .

SimSci Pro/II - GPSA sour water

AspenTech HYSYS and Aspen+ - API sour water

ProMAX - special package

But I wouldn't trust to all of them. In your case there is 3 phase and all of this packages are designed for preliminary sour water stripping modelling where only 2 phases exist. As per my experience lincesors rely on real plant data.

Since simulation is performed by PRO/II , i check the sour water H2S content in sour water with "GPSA sour water " property package in relux drum.

GPAS sour water equation of state can estimated H2S in sour water , but the problem is that the water content in hydrocarbon phase will be increase much more than excepted.

I have designed several sour water strippers with ProMax. It is the most accurate simulator I have found for this process. I know ProMax can model a three phase sour column, too. I have not done it, but I would recommend you call the ProMax guys for help with that.
