Dear Sir/Madam,

We have AKT exchanger which generates low pressure steam (10 kg/cm2 G) by vaporizing BFW with hot high vacuum gas oil.

Exchanger data sheet generally as follows:

Shell: BFW / 10kg/cm2g / Tin 145 deg C / Tout 188.5 deg C

Tube : HVGO / 14.8 kg/sm2g / Tin 217 deg C / Tout 201 deg C

Duty : 1.95 MMkcal/hr

Our Question is:

1. Is it possible to change present AKT exchanger with AKU?

2. What the main consideration of choosing AKT or AKU?

Thank you

U-tubes are more difficult to clean.

Dear Bobby,

Thank you for prompt reply.

We will suggest to stationary engineer not to change rear side from T to U.

Have someone experiencing any high fouling of HVGO in exchanger?

I saw at exchanger data sheet that fouling resistance for HVGO twice of steam/BFW fouling resistance.

Does it means HVGO more tends to be fouling at exchanger for above data?

Usually HVGO Has a higher fouling factor than twice that of BFW. According to TEMA, BFW has a typical fouling factor of 0.001 and Heavy Gas Oil has a fouling factor of 0.003-0.005. I didn't see a fouling factor for HVGO.
