Dears

Is it common practice to use a silencer in the suction line of a compressor?

What is the disadvantage of using a silencer in the suction of a compressor to reduce the noise?

Cheers

No, it is not common.  I've never heard of or seen one.

Expect higher horsepower if used.  You will not succeed in reducing the noise level.
