Esteemed Members

Requesting to help in resolving my dilemma by answering  the below query.

How will a clogged Air suction filter result in surging a Centrifugal Air Compressor ?

I have a 3 stage motor driven air compressor which is delivering air for Air Separation .Now over the period of time ,suction filter DP keeps increasing, which results in lower suction pressure thus increasing my power consumption for delivering the same discharge pressure (Considering constant air flow at downstream).

If the filter remains unattended ,there is a possibility of the compressor surging. Please explain how will this happen as my downstream is consuming the same amount of air.

Regards

Bodhisatya.

You must consult your compressor head-flow curve with indicated surge area.
