Dear all,

Normally in a crude column, the vapour from the side stripper overhead is returned to the vapour space of the draw off tray. I am working on a crude column where the vapours are returned to the vapour space of one tray above the draw off tray. Can anyone enlighten me on the reason for doing this?

Thanks

smuk

The stripper vapor is much lighter than the vapor at the draw. Sometimes you will see the vapor return 2 to 4 trays above the draw.

Thanks Bobby for your response. But I am looking for why for some towers the vapour return is above the draw tray, while for others it is not. Also, how does one decide at which tray the vapours should be returned.
