Today I come across a problem of mixing Fluids  of Ammonia chilled water PHE.Ammonia is getting mixed in the water .This is Alfa laval PHE having 52 plates.

I want to know how I can come to know which plate is leaking .The leackage is inside the welded portion of the Plate.

We have removed the insulatio from external side but there is no traces of leak. This PHE was opened for cleaning and fitted by us with all new gasket.

Is there any methadology if i open and want to check each plate individually can i  come to know about leak.

Pls help me to find the methodology to find leak.

RAM 1975 ,

No option you need to inspect each plate , one by one. You may have corrosion developping under the gasket .

You may consider to have a spare set of plates .

Hope this helps
