Hi Forum members

I work at a site where some statutory emissions monitoring regulations have recently been rolled out. We have a number of furnaces, incinerators and gas turbines onsite (about 30 in total) and for most online gas analyzers were not installed. The statutory requirement is to measure and report these numbers on a weekly basis. Currently the option being used is to lift personnel with a man basket once a week to use a portable analyzer to take these measurements. As you can imagine this is a labour intensive as well as high risk activity (typical stack heights of 12m and above from grade + high temperatures).

Obviously one solution is to install online analyzers, but this will take time, significant expense and will also require the equipment to be offline - so this will not happen in the short term.

Question:

- Does anyone know of tech companies that deal with portable analysers which can be use for measuring emissions at tall stacks while being operated from ground level?

- Anyone working on a site with a similar problem that the have been able to deal with subsequently? And how do they do it?

Thanks for any ideas
