Good day community.

I am trying to find a filtering solution to remove fatty materials from a solution of ammonia and water. The stream is produced as a side-product of amidation of fatty acids in an excess of ammonia. The product is the feed for an ammonia recovery unit and the fatty material is causing operational problems in the distillation unit. Here are some preliminary information:

1.    Flow: 1,200 kg/hr

2.    Composition of Ammonia: 15-50%.

3.    Composition of fatty material (amides + fatty acids + fatty salts): 1%

4.    Water composition: 49-84%

5.    Temperature: 20 degC

6.    Maximum pressure available on the line: 12 barg

I want to know if any of you have experience in this type of application and if there is any recommended technology (centrifugation, simple filtration, activated carbon adsorption, etc).

Please feel free to contact me if you require any other information.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

PD: Enclosed you will find a simple sketch of the process and the location of the filtering device.
