Hi,
I am calculating the heat losses from an open drain tank with dimensions L x D x H 4.75 x 5.5 x 2 m (rectangular). The tank has a 10 mm insulation and is equipped with a 16 KW heating coil.
The procedure I am following is:
1- Heat loss by convection from the bulk fluid to the tank wall (natural convection)
2- Heat loss through the tank wall and the insulation (conduction)
3- Heat loss by convection from the insulation surface to the atmosphere (natural convection)
Is there a way to estimate the tank wall temperature? and The outside surface temperature of the insulating material?
the bulk fluid temperature inside the tank is 5 C and the outside temperature (environment) is -17 C.
Regards,
Sherif
