Good Morning,

We have two anaerobic digesters each containing 6748 m3 of 5% dry solids sludge. The specification calls for the full contents to be turned over in one hour. The retention time is 20 days.

If the requirement is to feed 250 m3 of fresh sludge at 15 deg C in to the digester which is 35 deg C, for a period of 10 minutes every hour, is this likely to cause thermal shock to the bacteria?

Regards

John

Hello John,

Till you use hot water inlet 70°C it's ok for bacterias.

In this anaerobic digester, you will get fouling issue with traditionnal tubes&tubes. Furthermore as this is large duty, equipment dimensions will be important. I advice you a SPHE from NEXSON GROUP (single channel Spiral Heat Exchanger designed for sludge).

You will save, space, pressure drop, cleaning , pumping electricity ...

You can also install a sludge economiser with a spiral heat exchanger, I mean pumping the outlet sludge to heat up the fresh sludge. You cannot do such in other technologies.

I remain available to discuss it

Guillaume

I would be grateful if you can help us!!

I have also sent a copy of the email to your company email address so apologies if you see this twice.

We are designing a new wastewater treatment works for Northern Iraq. The flow rate is 450 MLD.

The construction will commence middle of 2017.

Best Regards
