I'm doing some research on some floating top oil tanks in Singapore and attempting to discover some of the capacities for individual tanks. I can use Google Earth to figure out the approximate diameter of these tanks, but I have no way of figuring out the height to find the capacity.

From my research, it seems like there aren't a few strict standard heights that floating top tanks use, so is there any way of figuring out what these tank heights would be?

I've also tried to look at each company's webpage (if the company/owner is obvious from Google Earth/maps), but they all only list their full terminal storage capacity, not necessarily on a per tank basis.

Is there a source for this information or a mathematical way to figure out what some of these height approximates should be?

Thanks in advance!

Hi zdowney.

For your question, review API Std 650 "Welded Steel Tanks for Oil Storage" or API Std 620 “Design and Construction of Large, Welded, Low-Pressure Storage Tanks”

Good luck
