Hello,

I am interested in learning about reactor design. I've done courses on kinetics, mass transfer and heat transfer but no course in particular concerning reactor design. I am aware of the ideal scenarios (PFR CSTR batch etc ) but I am also aware of their extreme limitations.

I am trying to find an example of a reactor design but I cannot seem to find any .I am not talking about theory, but an actual example of a complete reactor design. The reason I would like to see an example is to understand how the design problem was approached overall, the level of complexity involved, assumptions made and the general presentation style.

ChemEng16,

A good many issues are involved in the reactor design.   Refer to the following text book :  Rase, Chemical Reactor Design for Process Plants, Vol 1, and 2., JWS, 1977

General theoretical principles and technical solutions are covered in Vol 1, and practical design examples are provided in Vol 2.   If you meet  any particular problems during various design stages, turn to someone here for help.   Lots of reactor design professionals will take pleasure in helping you.
