Dear All,

I need to realize whether SIF trip will be required for each of the following inlet when high high level is reached inside tank.

Rich MEG tank (working vol: 2900 m3) has following four inlet:

(1)Two are continuous. Let us say source 1 and 2.

(2)Start up line from a pump @ 22.8 m3/h.

(3)Re circulation connection. There are three MEG tank and have common pump suction. If one tank to be emptied out, then pump will be started to fill out other tank.

There is a safety related alarm in the tank and at high high liquid level, individual XV valve on each inlet line are getting closed. But this closure is through PAS or ICSS only at present.

However, if tank gets overfilled beyond high high liquid level, it can fail. There is no ultimate protection to prevent tank failure if PAS or ICSS interlock fails to close individual XV.

To avoid this possibility, Client recommended to apply SIF to close inlet valves.

Two continuous source could overfill tank so SIF closure is required.

Start up line will fill the tank for a certain period and it has potential to overfill tank being a start up scenario so signal failure is quite possible.

Re circulation line used to transfer other tank inventory into subject tank can also overfill this depending on the inventory level inside the subject tank.

So, in my view all four inlet valve to close through SIF. But can we consider start up line and recirculation line to close via PAS/ICSS only being discontinuous service ?

Need your opinion.

Thanks.

Regards.
