In gas-solid heterogeneous catalysed reactions , the rate controlling mechanism may be due to bulk mass transfer, external/internal diffusion , adsorption/desorption, or reaction kinetics.

Are ALL these steps present in a liquid-solid heterogeneous catalysed reaction? Are there any ways to quickly verify which steps should be ignored?

Also, are all catalysts porous?
