Hi all.

Recently on our Steam Cracker unit we have some problems with Transfer Line Exchengers corrosion. Problem exist on water side near the water inlet. We have good quality of boiler feed water and we do not know what is happen. Has anybody any idea what could cause this corrosion? I know, that some companies had similar problems few years ago, but I do not have a contact to them.

Best Regards

You should consult a metallurgist to analyze the affected metal.

Check this article.

Also, in the Nalco Guide for Boiler Failure Analysis there are good pictures on different corrosion mechanisms.

But, as Bobby mentioned in his post it is better to consult an experienced metallurgist.

Your water treatment company may help with metallurgical analysis. At least is what Nalco and GE usually do.
