Hi,

I am designing a demethanizer column (MTO process) on HYSYS for a project. What are some of the considerations that I need to take into account? I have never simulated a cryogenic process on HYSYS and I am wondering how to go about it. I have a rough idea of the pressure of the distillation column based on literature readings. However, I am unsure about the thumb of rule for cryogenic simulations on HYSYS (turboexpander, reboiler duty, condenser duty, etc).

Any pointers on how to go about this will be appreciated. Thank you for your help in advance!

You would need

1. Flowsheet

2. Material Balances

Once you have settled on the flowsheet and material balances, then you can start thinking about the simulation. Unless you have those two, there is no point in fiddling around with Hysys.
