Hi,

I am currently doing my final year project which is based on a hydraulic fracturing plant in the UK. I am doing research into the design of the part of the plant that deals with the flow back fluid treatment, and I can't seem to make a decision on what compounds that may need to be removed from this sand/fines/water slurry. I have so far decided that sand, clay (fines), Lead and Mercury need to be removed before the water can be disposed of, But I have also read about other potentials such as aromatics such as benzene and toluene.

Can anybody offer advice?

Also I was thinking of using just a rotary drum-vacuum filter to remove sands and fines, will this suffice?

Thanks

Hi ,

1)For coarse particles you may consider sand filter ( equipped with back wash) ,

2)  and you may consider Activated carbon to remove organics !
