Hello,

I couldn't figure out how to change the component order on the component list in Aspen Hysys. It used to be pretty straight forward in the old Hysys.

Anyone knows how?

Thank you,

Leo

It should be in your HYSYS guide. Or at the support website. I still use 2.4 so I have no problem.

Bobby, thank you. The interface for the new version is so different!

Make a new component list and add components of your simulation in the order which you want it displayed. Then change the basis of the flowsheet so the new component list is used. The list should be in the order you want.

I am certain that somewhere there is a section where the user can reorder components. Try the modern way - drag & drop.

J_Leo,

Check article ID 000030268 in AspenTech Support Website.

Essentially, you just need to select a particular component and drag it to the position you want it to go. (Drag and Drop)

Pavanayi and Bobby, thank you. I couldn't do the drag and drop. When I tried to do it, other adjacent components were selected altogether. The target component didn't move.

I found a way to do it. For example, I have C1, C3, C2 on the list. To sort the list, I remove C3 from the list and then add it back while C2 is selected. Now it is C1, C2, C3.

J_Leo,

There must somewhere be a drag and drop feature. Maybe Pavanayi can post excerpts from the article. I'm curious.

The article just mentioned that the component list can be re-ordered using drag and drop. This method is applicable for V8 and higher, I believe.

I tried out on a few files and it worked for me.

I presume that you drag and drop components in the selected group to reorder. Your statement is a bit ambiguous. But the curious would eventually get it.

Thanks.

Click once on the component of interest (which is to be moved). This action selects it.

Then click and drag (from over the selected component) in one motion to the target location.

If at the first instance you click and drag, the component is not properly selected. (I think it is an issue with the form). That may be the reason OP had multiple components re-ordered simultaneously.

I have made a screen video grab, but the media files cannot be uploaded here, so I have tried to describe in words. Hope that clears it.

Thank you! Strange departure from the normal drag & drop.

Pavanayi, thank you very much. I tried again and it didn't work for me. The form acted exactly as excel. The selected cell couldn't be moved. Anyway, I have found the method to do it, in a different way.
