i have attached an excel sheet in which i have tried solve a material and energy balance of cooling tower and a bit of design .......... and i have calculate the area and number of transfer units ........... reaquired i can further calculate height of transfer units ............


but during the discussion with my advisor he used the word " NUMBER OF CELLS" i have no idea how we get number of cells in cooling towers i have the area of basin of cooling tower that is 944 sq ft ..... if i say it is a 25 x 38 basin then how i will get number of cells ........ hope you have understood my question ................

secondly ................ ' I NEED TO CALCULATE HEIGHT OF FILL .... CAN ANYONE PROVIDE ME WITH SOME KIND OF TABLE FOR WHICH VALUES OF Kxa ARE GIVEN FOR DIFFERNT FILLING TYPES AND LIQUID AND GAS LOADINGS"

Hi dear

Well i tooked lead to patronage your concern regarding cells, which is nothing but the structure forming the matrix within fill area. While going through your calc,one thing which i had to ask you , why you have taken Water Flow rate per ft2 of cooling tower area 2000lb/hr ft2. Kindly have me your reply to help you out
