Cavitation In Control Valves

In my previous mail I had some doubts on choked flow which Art has eliminated now I have some doubts about cavitation

1) I am told that during pump design we always eliminate the possibility of cavitation . But in Control Valve design sometimes it happens you cannot avoid cavitation. Is this true ?

2) If cavitation occurs what is the remedy ?

Cavitation in control valve may not be avoided for some condition especially the fluid vapor pressure is closed the outlet pressure. Apart from the article shown indicate by Padmaker, you may also read "How to determine if a restriction orifice will experience cavitation ? (click here)".

One way to remedy is to provide anti-cavitation trim in control valve.
