In finding the thickness of pipe subjected to internal pressure & external pressure what are the codes being followed in general practice. How design for external pressure is diferent from that for internal pressure.

The ASME 31.x series of codes is commonly used for piping. What "x" is depends on the type of facility you are designing for. Process piping uses 31.3; utility systems and pipelines use different variations. I believe that all piping meeting these codes would be good for full vacuum, but remain ready to be educated if this is not true.
