how to apply heat balance in a shell and tube heat exchanger if tube side fluid is undergoing chemical reactions and as well as temp. change? for example, in my case inlet tube side fluid is alcohol and acid while outlet is ester at diff temp?

firstly, we have to consider the hydraulic change in tube. looking that the ester provides more volume flow rate or not. this step will define the caracteristic of the tube of HX. In energy field, we calculate the reaction as the tube reactor (plug flow) to see the conversion of the reaction then we will know the heat of reaction (i don't sure that is it an endothermic one ?) Good luck
