I have a glass tube HX with sulfuric acid on the tube side and cooling water on the shell side. I know the input and output temperatures of both. I know the flow (gpm) of each. The HX is a counter current design. I also know the lenght of the HX, # of tubes and thickness of tubes. What is the calculation to find the "hottest" temperature the cooling tower water will contact or be? I want to prevent the precipitation of hardness onto the tubes.

Also, will this calculation also be used for a steam condensor? If not what changes needed to be made.
