Hi all ,
I want to know that what are the differences in design of a vertical condenser to that in a horizontal condensers?
During plant visits i have seen Cooling water exchangers having process fluid (gas) line being split in to parts to the shell side and two process outlet lines join at the outlet. What is this for??

Sour:

The subject of vertical condensers as compared to horizontal condensers has been discussed and explained many times on these Forums. Please use the SEARCH feature on our Forums and seek out the answers and comments.

Process lines are usually split on horizontal condensers with TEMA type "H" or "J" shells in order to reduce the shell-side pressure drop. This is especially true in the case of condensers operating under a partial vacuum.
