Hi every one in this forum:
Can some explain me that why do we need gas blanket on Amine surge tank? Do we really need it? OR what will be the effect if we don't have gas blanket?
I am asking because i think need it is necessary to have gas blanket on every tank, but my senior engineer told me that we don't need it.

Process:

There must be well over a hundred types of amines used in industry. Which one do you mean?

What is an "Amine surge tank"? What function does it serve in your process?

What process are you operating?

You have to give us specific data in order to give you an accurate answer - or guess.

Hi Mr. Art:
I appreciate your answer Mr. Art. I always enjoy reading your answers regarding process.

It is MDEA/DEA Amine system. The Amine surge tank is connected with amine still column. Lean Amine from Amine Still Column goes to Amine surge tank and from there it goes to lean/rich Amine exchanger (where it exchange its temperature) and then it goes to Amine contactor.

So this tank works as a accumulating tank for lean Amine. Also, some lean amine is pumped to this tank from lean amine make-up pumps. But this quantity is less as compare to the lean Amine from the Still Column.

I hope I explained every thing.
Thank you very much Mr. Art.

Dear Process101 Hello and good Night,
Just a Wild thought; this may be helping in reduction of possible foaming condition suppression I believe!
