Dear all,

I hope you are having a nice moment!

I am a junior-level Process Design Engineer for the field Mid-stream/upstream oil and gas industries.

Can anyone share their knowledge regarding "what are the typical softwares useful for oil and gas upstream/downstream"?

Also, what are the differences between the HYSYS, PRO II ,Winsim ,VMG sim,UNISIM, HYSIMand Aspen plus softwares?

Which one is suitable for what application?

Please Explain. From youir answer I will get some understanding, possibily!

Kind thanks to you all !

Regards,
Dhns

dhns,

You can find extensive information on the applicability range of all the software you mentioned. The best information source is the website of the software distributor.
Your question about typical upstream/midstream oil&gas software is kind of broad according to my opinion. I don't think there is a typical, except MS Office maybe. There are so many aspects involved in the business, you have to narrow down your question to some specific fields.
The differences between the pieces of software you mentioned is best to discover them yourself, if you have the possibility. There are some posts on Cheresources forums regarding this subject.
All I can tell is that there are no major differences between Hysys and Unisim, they share a common developing platform. Unisim was a Hysys developed by Honeywell during a not so clear period of Hyprotech (parent company of Hysys) regarding ownership issues.
