My project is ethanol plant design and analysis economical of the plant. There is a distillation column in order to separate alcohol from water. The ethanol concentration must be 95%. Plese estimate the price of the distillation column.

Temperature = 80 C
tray=31
Diameter 1.5m
Height 17m
tray space 0.55m
pressure drop 5 kPa

Thank you for your kindness. ^ ^

Nattima:

I estimate US $ 650,000.00, F.O.B.

This is taking into consideration that you haven’t given us:

1. The location of the fabrication;
2. The design pressure;
3. The material of construction;
4. The height of the required sump and top disengagement sections;
5. The nozzles, sizes, types, and locations;
6. The structural supports for insulation, ladders, platforms, etc.;
7. The support structure for the column: skirt? Legs?
8. Type of fabrication: segmental (flanged? Or welded at site?)
9. How is it to be shipped? Or will it be fabricated on site?
10. Corrosion allowance?
11. Type of head closure?
12. Complete, detailed specification sheet.

Do you now completely understand just exactly what my estimate is worth?
I hope I have reinforced my points of just how ridiculous this idea of chemical engineering students is that they can accurately "estimate" the capital cost of a piece of equipment by doing a minimum of work on their own.

Don't forget vendor documentation for the manufacturer's data report that will be required for the vessels integrity management through its service life.

Not unusual for this cost element to form 5-10% of the cost of the delivered unit.
