Question Details:
Hi, I would really like some help starting this problem...
A 5 kg copper ball at 75 C is dropped into 12 kg of water, initially at 5 C - in a well-insulated container.
a. Find the common temperature of the water and copper ball after the passage of a long period of time.
b. What is the entropy chane of the water in going from its initial to final state? of the ball? f the composite system of water and ball?
Cp (copper) = .5 J/ (g K)
Cp (water) = 4.2 J/(g K)
I'm confused - should I treat this as a closed system or an open system and where do I go from there in terms of writing out an energy balance?
