Hello everyone,

I am trying to simulate using chemcad a process to seperate a mixture of water and formic acid in methy loleate at ambient T and P to give a liquid product containing 0.2 wt% water.
Which thermodynamic model whould be most suited to for this process?
I was thinking of using a solution model like NRTL, since the mixture behavior should be modeled as a non-ideal mixture. Also the NRTL model include the binary interaction paramaters of water and formic acid, which increase the accuracy of the model.

Hello,
As you mentioned water content is 20% then ofcourse NRTL is best choice.

Actually it's 0.2%, do you still think it's a good choice?

I feel NRTL is choice for your case.

Others please correct me if i am wrong.
