what is percentage of carbon in methane. I am asking this becoz we had natural gas in which CH4 is 90.0% (mole ) ,should I take carbon in CH4 = 12/16*90.0. Whether this right or wrong ,I am confused. I want to calculate carbon % in methane.

Thanks

What type of percentage?

Weight percent?
Mole percent?
Volume percent?

By the way, aren't you in the wrong discussion area?

This rates as under-grad student work to me. That said, you look like you're on the right track. However, what's in the other 10mol% of the gas? You'll need to account for carbon in the balance of the gas that you're dealing with.

Dear

Your query has incomplete info:

1) What is remaining 10% of natural gas stream

2) What is the basic need to know Carbon%age.

3) See above astro's reply very correct guidance indeed!

Best regards
Qalander
