I am studying the biosorption of Heavy Metal cations from aqueous solution for pollution remediation as well as recovery point of view.
After successful batch adsorption test, I did the column run only because of very much valuable suggestions answered to my last topic.
Now I am having a break through curve, I seek again the suggestions from your experience regarding,
1) What factor has to be determined from this breakthrough curve in order to scale up and designing system?
2) Is it good enogh to be use for practical application or improvement are necessary? what else we will get to know or analyze from curve?
3)How should I proceed with calculations.
I am also attaching the .xls (Excel file0 FOR MY BREAKTHROUGH CURVE DATA AND GRAPH)
The colum dimension and operating conditions are,
Column i.d.= 30 mm
Bed Packing = 100 mm
Amt of adsorbent = 8 g
Initial concentration of Metal [Cr(III)] = 69 ppm (69 mg/l)
Volumetric flow rate = 11 ml/min
Superfacial Velocity = 0.0000816m/s
Pressure Drop ( as calculated from Ergun eqn.) = 184.2218809 N/m2 (
(Adsorbent: its a natural fruit peel powder ( size < 0.450 mm) of non uniform and non spherical shape n sweels in water but was stady during column runs)
Desorption: 0.5 M HNO3
Regeneration: 0.1 M CaOH2
Mode of Operation : Upflow mode (solution feed from bottom with peristaltic pump n collected at top)
