In my current working place, there are 2 kinds of turbine being employed. one is a back pressure turbine, the other is the condensing turbine.
Can i confirm that the condensing turbine works by condensing the the steam at the outlet of the turbine, thereby creating a vacuum at the outlet. This will cause a large differential pressure across the inlet and the outlet of the turbine, hence driving steam to flow through the turbine, creating power?
Also can i know what is a back pressure turbine?
Thank you

Hello everybody:
conan, a backpressure turbine is a steam turbine designed to exhaust steam above atmospheric pressure.
Also known as noncondensing turbines, its exhaust steam is usually used for process or plant heating.

Please specify if exhaust steam would be at atmospheric pressure?

Yes the condensing turbine's exhaust steam is at atmospheric pressure.

Yes the condensing turbine's exhaust steam is at atmospheric pressure.
You mean the turbines such as steam turbines in steam power plants that their exhaust steam would be at the pressure below ATM due to vacuum already provided in down stream condenser, can not be among condensing turbines?

Dear any handbook on turbine will clear your all doubts and refresh your basic fundamentals also.
