hello everyone!! am an under graduate student(mechanical engg).....i was given a project to complete it says Design a coldplate that is cooled by oil with cooling capacity of 200w using aluminum as base plate 30cm*30cm plategot ...i found out the reynolds no by selecting an oil of low viscosity hence i got density of the oil thru google. and the diameter of the coil tubes present inside plate...i asumed it like i put into it maximum coils with 1cm dia and 20cms length so that to increse my characteristic length like wise i got the area. and reynolds numbe ris somewhere arround 550 its laminar flow
i used Q=h A(t2-t1) and q=200w i found out h and also from m(oil)=desity*area*velocity i found mass flow rate and velocity thus i got all the consideration but i am not sure whether my selection of charecteristic length is correct.please send in ur suggestions thank you!!and also how to sselect the thickness of plate. the heat exchanger looks like a plate with tubular coil holes no external material is present .only aluminim
