Could anyone please explain the basis of assumption for following parameters in pump design,

1. Pump speed.

2. Pump efficiency.

Thanks,

Subodh Ubhare.

Dear thorium90

as in sizing of CF pump, for pump efficiency & impeller rotation speed.

Hi Subodh,

I guess you need to get in touch with a Rotating Engineer in your company for these values. He can provide you an approx value based on Archive data or he can get in touch with a vendor who can provide the same.

my 2 cents from the young years as process engineer in the refining setor:

- assume 3500 rpm

- estimate efficiency according to the attached graph (based on stats)

- check/revise on the base of catalog selection and, finally, vendor data

good luck!

Hi,

These are the pump parameters are utilizing/specifying by the design division of the pumps manufacturers; hence to get a real sense about the typical values of them you can refer to the relevant vendors catalogs...

Considering "Subodh Ubhare" is in Mumbai and the electrical frequency is 50Hz there, 3000rpm should be used for motor speed. 3600rpm is for 60Hz countries and the slight reduction is from slip.
