Cannot Find Thermo-Physical Properties Of Calcium Chloride Cacl2

This platform has been immensely helpful to me because I am in chlor-alkali sector. As such I always need experimented properties e.g this post is great about NaOH propeties

^ I effectively had used these to prepare HYSYS *.hyp properties file

 

Now I have searched the internet (& I am good at it) but cannot find CaCl2 gravity / w.t% / isotherm tables akin to that of NaOH. For designing CaCl2 rising evaporators specific heats at various w.t% is essential. So do please help

 

Secondly VMGSIM has a compound name CaCl2Brine which is classified as Oils? Plus its properties (density Cp) are very very different to that of CaCl2 aqueous solutions. What is this oil?

Thanks for replying. However I think I may haven not described my problem fully. In an evaporation plant lets suppose I take out a sample of CaCl2 aq. from 2nd effect @95C. Using hydrometer / thermometer I can have both S.G or density / Temperature

 

Now I need a table to judge w.t% of aforementioned sample using two measure inputs

If I have access only to cooling water @33C I cannot cool the sample to 25C; temperature upon which most graphs/properties are published!

Hi ,

To me the best way is to use in line mass flowmeter which generates density and temperature at the same time to get access to the concentration .

with reference to your post #1, which type of problem do you wish to solve ? Thermophysical properties ?, phase equilibria ? phase equilibria + heat balance ? For a evaporator probably you wish to solve the last,

in my opinion, for single units, tools as Excel can be very useful, see also the example provided by PingPong

Excellent reply & thanks. In this paper there is an statistical eq. to model that relates (density, T & w.t%) of CaCl2 aq. solutions. I have setup a fairly simple spreadsheet with goal seek to get my answers without the need to refer tables & graphs. But this isn't working. Please check the attached excel file & a screenshot

In an evaporator there are many recuperator (S&T xchangers) as well. For those to design I need multiple variables which includes density as well. I have asked the researcher (whose paper is refereed) above for further details.

Solution w.t% is required from operational point of view. You see in operations your operator can give you x2 measure variables i.e T & S.G ...I need to calculate w.t% afterwards

It will not do, because the calculators have no temperature variable consideration! Plus the data you provided earlier (thanks for it) doesnt extent to 60w.t% < my final effect outlet

 

Now in operations if for instance you don't have a chilled water readily available you cannot cool the sample to 25C (at this data is mostly available) ...Cooling water temps here in summer are 30-32C. Lab analysis I avoid :)
