Dear sirs,
Normal boiling point of MTBE is 55.2 deg C and normal boiling point of methanol is 64.7 deg C. Methanol got more latent heat of vaporization compared to MTBE. My question is at high pressure will methanol boil at less temperature compared to MTBE?

You may want to calculate the vapor pressure of the pure components .

Use the data base above with Cas number or other entries (formula ,..)

cas number :

MTBE 1634-04-4

Methanol :67-56-1

You might be interested with this calculator . My understanding is that Methanol +MTBE form an azeotrope .

The same database that was linked to in post #2 also has a database of binary VLE. You should be able to search for methanol/MTBE and see what data they have.

 

The Dortmund Data Bank also has binary VLE data (though they are less inclined to give it away for free): http://www.ddbst.com/ddb.html

 

One could also put the two compounds into UNIFAC to estimate activity coefficients and VLE to estimate the azeotrope composition.

I don't recall that it is a problem. If you look at a flowsheet for making pure isobutene it involves converting isobutene in a mixture by reacting with methanol to form MTBE. The resulting mix is separated first to recover MTBE as a bottom product. Then removing light materials and heavy materials via fractionation. Then cracking the MTBE stream to generate methanol and isobutene. I don't recall there being any azeotropes. You can search for CDTECH and ask them.
