Dear all,

 

I would like to ask you how I can calculate the width of downcomer for a single pass tray if I have data for the tray.

 

Also, I would appreciate your explanation why  if we see a tray from the top of the column it looks like the attached picture.

Thank you so much for the help of both! Mr. Bobby can you please tell me which is your website!

My main problem was to visualize why the tray looks like this from a top view. But, I will try to find a way to vizualize it. I am new engineer and sometimes I am struggling with the drawings, because I have never seen a distillation column only from books! haha

Hi,

All i am looking for a the following data for a Multi Distributor type UOP trays, can anybody help where to look for them or how to calculate them.

 

  1. Hole area/Active area.
  2. Downcomer End gap.
  3. Downcomer width.
  4. Liquid exit area/bottom Downcomer area.

You will need to contact UOP. As far as I know, there is no other way to rate the performance of their trays. In the past I have gotten them to give me ratings at two different feed and traffic conditions and used that information to kludge a relationship with the usual column performance parameters so I could roughly interpolate for predictive purposes.
