What is a reliable resource that I can get the prices of chemicals (hydrocarbons and refrigerants) from for free? I will be using these prices in an economical analysis of an organic Rankine cycle.

Hi,

You need to call vendors in your area . Try your favorite search engine to find contacts .

Why don't you supply the name of the chemicals ? Someone may help you.

Good luck

I have the same question, but am looking more for general sources of historical / average prices, not firm quotes for near-term purchase. It seems to me it used to be easier to find such information, but now a search just turns up $5,000 private reports with dozens of pages of analysis and projections, when all I want is a reasonable price for some common chemical. Is there anything left in the public domain?

When I was younger, I'd go to the company library and look at the Chemical Market Reporter.  It was FULL of chemical prices.  It was replaced in March 2005 by ICIS.
