After reading this CSB document on the Kuraray incident (https://www.csb.gov/...eng06.pdf?16387), we identified several relief systems with similar designs - horizontal discharge of flammable vapor rather than vertical. Does anyone know what the basis or reason is for discharging flammable vapor horizontally rather than vertically. API 521 appears to be based on vertical discharge. Why would engineering firms design and install these systems with horizontal discharge? csb_kuraray_factual_eng06.pdf 810.7KB 4 downloads
