Hi,

 

I  want to ask how to calculate the length of pipeline? As in the attachment, the author got 1332.96 m. What is the formula/equation to calculate length of pipe?

 

In addition, i have attached spreadsheet that may contain some parameter to calculate the length of pipe.

Hi,

 

I believe this is the equation to calculate pressured drop and based on the pressure can get the length of pipe. i'm thinking the same but there is a bit confusion here.

 

I have do the calculation of pressure drop (kPa/100) by using ∆P = ρ x (v^2/2) x (f/d) where i get 7.73 kpa/100m as in the spreadsheet.

 

However, this calculation only can be calculate because i don't insert the pipe length.  When i insert length to this equation, it becomes

∆P = f x (L/D) X ρ x (v^2/2)

 

So how i want to calculate the pipe length when i don't know the length of pipe and the pressure drop?

Hi ,

 

Either you know the length ( at least 100 m ) or you know the delta P! otherwise you cannot  solve your problem .

Are you sure you can apply the Darcy-Weisbach equation to your system ( compressible fluid)  ? At least you need to justify it.

Note : In the equation D-W L represents the pipe length , how do you integrate the fittings and other valves?

 

Probably good for you to review the equation using your favorite search engine.

Again ask help from your supervisor or any text book related to fluid dynamic.
