If Gasoil / Diesel is mixed with Gasoline / Petrol in an equal proportion, is it possible to convert this mixture in any of the on-spec finished product without re-processing it in refinery. It could be by adding any third component to achieve desire specification. After some laboratory analysis, it is found that this mixture is close to Gasoline / Petrol in terms of other properties but two important properties are still off-spec i.e. Research Octane Number (RON - ASTM D2699) and Distillation (ASTM D86). RON can be controlled by RON Boosters but the topic is about Distillation Test. Current Distillation Results of this mixture is attached. How can this mixture can be converted into Gasoline / Petrol without re-refining? One thought that came across our mind was to add Naphtha in this mixture because FBP (Final Boiling Point) of Naphtha is much lower that FBP of this mixture. Naphtha will also help in reducing specific gravity of this mixture. But we want to know the correct recipe and mixing percentages. Any other solution to this problem will be highly welcomed.

I see these possible solutions:

1) sell it as it is at a discount

2) burn it as fuel

3) blend it in small quantities with on-spec product

4) distill it

A good steady state simulation can help with evaluation. I doubt that intuition can provide as accurate results as simulation.

No.  Adding another product won't change the FBP because those big molecules are still there.  You would need to distill the mixture back into gasoline and diesel.

You have to re-process it, or sell it cheap so someone else can re-process it.
