Hi all,

This is my first time posting. I'm currently doing a fairly simple design project using an ethylene/propylene feed to produce HDPE polyethylene. All I require at the moment is the current price of nonane (which is to be used as a solvent).

If anyone could forward me a website, catalogue, market report etc. at the very least to give me a rough idea as to how much the solvent will cost that would be great.

Note that in this case I do not think a ridiculously high purity is necessary (or feasible).

Your help is much appreciated,

Tim

I used ICIS for a rough estimate, I believe they give different pricing based on the region.

ICIS is all right, but anyway the best way to do accurate evaluation is to use a pricing system that is consistent. If you pick a price from location A and another from location B they might all be correct, but in a different economical context. Be also very careful with the terms (delivered, FOB, and so on). For a commodity project (such as polyethylene) this is critical.

Practically, if you use ICIS or CMAI or any other stick as much as possible to the same for all your feedstock and products. Also use an energy price (power and fuel) consistent with the feedstock.
