In our ammonia plant-2, we have activated MDEA system from M/s BASF for removal of CO2 from synthesis gas.

A part of methanol / organic matter generated in high-activity shift converters is present in the process gas inlet to CO2 absorption column. This methanol / organic matter produces some impurities in the activated MDEA solution. To cater for this, we have an option to install a charcoal filter in the activated MDEA system. This charcoal filter will work on a slip stream.

Can readers offer any suggestion or share experience, if any.
