Dear Sir,

There is API 676 Progressive Cavity pump with 18.93 l/s and the Vendor is offering me the pump with 20.03 l/s(since he is not getting the required Gear Ratio).

My question is: Can we suggest the Vendor to do the piping for Re-circulation as we do in Centrifugal pumps and that the pumps shall not be getting affected in performance. Is it a common practice in PD pumps ? ( I never came across such thing).

Kindly note that Vendor dont have any choice for going to the different Gear box vendor since the gear boxes are already bought.

Whats the best solution. Kindly help me in this matter.

Regards,

PTG

PTG,

As the flow in PD pump is almost constant and not to be so changed with the change in discharge head, it's common practice to adjust the flow rate via a recirculating line back to the suction drum (or suction line itself) in mentioned pumps...
