Any one has experience the flow meter didn’t give correct/illogical (to small) value after installation?

Additional info:

The flow meter installed at steam piping

The flow meter has been change from the small range to bigger range (as the flow rate of steam has been increased). The new flow meter also use existing orifice.

Some of my friend said, the installation of the orifice is incorrect (wrong direction). However we utilize existing orifice.

I did suspect high DP across the orifice (since the flow rate is increase but we utilize existing orifice)

Instrument said, might be due to condensate inside the tubing.

Any comment??

he said the condensate got stuck inside the tubing. i don't know is it valid reason or not as i already consider quite few numbers of steam trap during my design. however, this is start-up condition. might be condensate production high compared to during normal operation..

Orifice plate has turndown ratio ranging from 3:1 to 5:1. You need to check if this covers your application.

Second thing is to verify correctness of the installation. See guidelines at http://www2.spiraxsa...m-flowmeter.asp
