Dear All

In our ammonia plant, we have found co2 in lab analysis on different points in synthesis loop. There are chances of carabamate formation. But on plant shutdown no traces found.

I need pt diagram for carbamate formation and dissociation as it may get decomposed on variation in temperature and pressure.

Regards

ABS

Check at methanator exit.. if CO or CO2 are together more than 5 ppm volume, the temperature in ammonia converter would increase. Keep a constant watch on the temperature profile of the converter. Any signs of temperature increase wili need immediate action. Vibrations in the compressor would also be an indication. Very serious accidents were reported in one of the plants in Australia (as far as I remember, about 50 years back). In another plant the whole of .ammonia catalyst melted down to a rock of iron.

Sometimes, there would be small quantities of air suction  at the sampling point which increase CO2 ppm without effecting the plant.. Only the sample is effected. You may check.
